Fall #2

I’ve spoken about the Fall colors already, but I couldn’t resist coming back to them this week. For me, the mix of russet and amber tones in the background of this shot captures the warmth of Fall and serves as a perfect complement to the rich brown of the horse.

The key to this shot, though, is the separation between the foreground and background. Certainly, the darker color of the mane helps with that, but it works in combination with the interest created by the rosettes and the disruption they cause as they break up an otherwise smooth line from poll to wither. If the mane had been left loose, the shot wouldn’t have had as much interest.

If you’d like to find out more, or enquire about a shoot or a workshop, get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
