Photographer's regret

I’m just back from 10 days in Costa Rica with some serious photographer’s regret. We drove on some of the most exhilarating and beautiful roads I’ve ever come across with farm after farm after farm of horses and I’m kicking myself for not shouting ‘pull over’ more often. If it hadn’t been for the eye-wateringly steep drops, the unevenness of the roads making 10 mph feel way too fast and the fact that the longer-than-expected drives meant we were invariably racing the clock to get to our next stop before sunset, I could have stopped at every turn.

This shot was quite literally my last shot at capturing some horses before heading home. It was taken on our way from Tamarindo to a one night stay in Liberia before our flight out the next day and I admit I was making up for lost stops. I was pretty much yelling ‘pull over’ each time I saw a horse, but this mother and foal were worth it. What made it even more special for me, was that my 8 year old joined me with her camera.
