‘Unsaddled’ came about because of the way the light shining in from a small stall window illuminated the contours of this horse’s back. Photographing horses as much as I do means I’m always looking for new ways to capture these beautiful animals. On this particular day, an otherwise dark barn and a dark coloured horse allowed me to use the light and shadow to create the contrast that makes this image work.
